Strategic Goals

To use a well trained end experienced manpower and equipment to provide electricity networks at a minimal cost and time.


Enugu State Rural Electrification Board (REB), (established under former Anambra State of Nigeria Edict No. 25 of 1978) performs the following function.

  • Provide and distribute electricity for public, domestic or industrial use in any part of the state thereinafter referred to as “area of Supply”) where the National Electric Power Authority does not for the time being maintain any electricity undertaking or installations.
  • Establish, manage, maintain and work such electricity undertaking as the Board may deem it expedient to establish for the purpose of its function under paragraph (a) above.
  • Take over any electricity undertaking or installation of the Government in an area of supply.
  • Manufacture, provide, sell lease or hire, connect, maintain, repair, or remove any electric lines, fittings apparatus or appliances for lighting, heating or for any other purpose for which electricity can or may be used;
  • Maintain shops and showrooms for the display, sale and hire of electrical equipment of all kinds;
  • Carryout the advertisement of such electrical equipment whether by way of demonstration, exhibition or otherwise; and
  • Perform such other function as may from time to time be assigned to it by the commissioner.

300 rural communities get electricity in Enugu

AT least, 300 rural communities in Enugu have been supplied electricity by the State Rural Electrification Board as part of the government’s effort to extend development and amenities to the rural areas and halt the urban drift. The electricity projects, according to the General Manager, Enugu State Rural Electrification Board, Onyema Odo are scattered across communities in the 17 Local Government councils of the state.
